Empower Youth

In partnership with local school systems and community partners, Empower Youth provides resources and support for the youth community to discover their future careers after graduation. In the program, they will learn communication, interpersonal and 21st century skills (such as technology, media, financial literacy and workforce development) to not only support their transition but also assist them with networking opportunities, certifications and a stipend during the program.

 Program Information

  • At Empower Youth, we believe every youth can enter the workforce utilizing their natural assets like bilingual language and diverse background. Youths participating in this program will receive basic workforce training such as resume writing, public speaking skills, workplace etiquette, and most importantly what career path they are interested in. Throughout the process, we aim to not only prepare them for their future career paths but also improve their English proficiency and writing skills. Empower Youth also helps the participants by opening doors of opportunity to apply to an internship or job.

  • Empower Youth participants has the opportunity to visit various industry sites. Visiting different work sites allows students to gain perspective on what kind of environment they want to work at, and how different work sites are set up. In past years, we took on a tour to Tremont Credit Union. Students got chance to explored different departments, talked to staffs, program directors and Human Resources managers about their work experiences in the finance industry.

  • During the program, we invited different guest speakers from various career industries. Our past guest speakers included a manager from Bank of America to talk about financial literacy; COO from JP Fuji Group Inc. to share his experience on entrepreneurship; educators from American Student Assistance to teach students resume writing.
